I had a bit of a mixed experience at The St Ives Bay Hotel. The location was great, right by Porthminster Beach, but the hotel felt quite dated and in need of some serious TLC. While I appreciated the helpful staff, my stay was marred by some uncomfortable room conditions and subpar dining options. Overall, I wouldn't rush back but it could've been nicer with a few improvements.

Rooms
5.0
My room was pretty outdated with a small size and uncomfortable bedding. The water pressure in the shower was weak and it felt like the heating was uncontrollable. The balcony looked a bit unsafe, too.
Service
5.0
The staff were friendly, but I did encounter some rudeness from a duty manager regarding billing issues. They didn't seem to handle complaints very well, which was disappointing.
Location
5.0
The hotel is in a great spot, just a short walk to the beach and town. It's well-situated for exploring the area, which I really loved.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast was lackluster and the dinner options were pretty terrible, leading me to skip meals there. The food felt like it was made on a tight budget, just not enjoyable at all.
Facilities
5.0
The common areas felt a bit rundown, and there were definitely some cleanliness issues. The lack of an operating lift was also a hassle, especially for those with mobility issues.

7.2/10

My stay at The St Ives Bay Hotel was filled with good moments, especially thanks to the friendly staff and the stunning views. However, the hotel's decor felt a bit tired, and some facilities, like the dining service, could use improvement to enhance the overall experience.

Rooms
7.0
Despite the age of the decor, my room was clean and had beautiful views. However, I did notice some tired carpets, and my room was next to the lift, which could be noisy.
Service
9.0
The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making my stay welcoming. Daniel, the general manager, and his assistant Danielle really stood out in delivering great customer service.
Location
10.0
The location was fantastic, just a short walk to the town center and right across from the beach. It was perfect for exploring St Ives.
Dining
6.0
While the food was decent, the breakfast buffet layout could use some redesign as it was far from the kitchen, causing delays. The dining room was often busy, and it felt like more staff would improve the experience.
Facilities
6.0
The public areas had stunning views and were warm and cozy. However, the hotel needs some modernization, especially in the bedrooms and some furnishings.

6.6/10

My stay at The St Ives Bay Hotel was quite mixed. While the location offered stunning sea views and the staff were friendly and helpful, there were several notable issues. The hotel and rooms felt outdated and needed some attention, especially in terms of cleanliness and maintenance, which left me feeling disappointed overall.

Rooms
5.0
The room was small and not as described. It definitely felt cramped, and the issues with the radiator made it uncomfortably hot. I was disappointed to find the bathroom panels were falling off and I had to deal with a weak shower water pressure.
Service
5.0
The staff at the hotel were friendly and did their best, especially during busy breakfast times. However, the service at the bar was painfully slow, which was frustrating when I just wanted to relax after a long day.
Location
7.0
The hotel's location was definitely a highlight. It was within walking distance to the beach and main attractions, which made exploring St. Ives quite convenient. Plus, the views from the dining and lounge area were beautiful.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was decent, but I had to sit at the back of the dining room due to priority seating for coach customers. The buffet was sometimes slow to refill, which was disappointing.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities were somewhat lacking. There didn't appear to be functional WiFi in the rooms, and the TV signal dropped frequently. The overall state of the hotel suggested it needed some significant refurbishment.

My stay at The St Ives Bay Hotel was a mixed bag. The location was fantastic, really close to the beach and town, but the hotel itself felt a bit worn out. While the staff were super friendly and hardworking, the facilities could definitely use some updating, especially the carpets and the lift.

Rooms
6.0
My room was clean, but the carpet was stained, and the bathroom had an odd smell. The windows were old, which let in a draft. I appreciated the sea view, but there were trees blocking it a bit, too.
Service
7.0
The staff were really nice and always willing to help. They even decorated my room for a special occasion, which I thought was a sweet touch. However, during busy times like breakfast, they seemed a bit overwhelmed.
Location
9.0
The location is perfect—just a short walk to the beach and close to the town center. I loved being able to hear the waves at night.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was decent and served buffet-style, but it got a bit chaotic with so many guests. The quality was good, though, just wish there was more variety and room to sit during peak times.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel itself has character, but really needs some updates, especially the small, rickety lift and the decor. The cleanliness in common areas was good, but some facilities felt a bit outdated.

My stay at The St Ives Bay Hotel was a mixed bag. The stunning beach views were a highlight, and the friendliness of the staff really stood out for me. However, I encountered some cleanliness issues in my room, which dampened the experience a bit.

Rooms
6.0
I booked a standard room plus, which was spacious but the bathroom felt cramped. Unfortunately, it lacked a view and had some maintenance issues, like a temperamental TV and inconsistent cleaning.
Service
10.0
The staff were friendly and helpful. They always greeted me with a smile, which made a difference. I appreciated how quickly they dealt with minor issues.
Location
9.0
The location is very nice, just a short walk from the beach and nearby attractions. I loved the scenic views, especially from the dining area overlooking the bay.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was excellent with quality items like bacon and sausages, though the evening meals had small portions. Overall, I found the dining options satisfactory for my needs.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel’s facilities were a bit tired. I did have some issues with cleanliness in common areas, which could use more attention.
